Monthly our Claremont Place residents, staff, and family members recognize a team member for Starfish of the month.
October 2017 Starfish Recipient: Ramona Ottley
Ramona Ottley, Vibrant Life Assistant has been with Claremont Place for approximately 6 months longer than her hire date in October 2014. ED Lisa remembers having a phone conversation with Ramona when she called to inquire as to how she could become a volunteer. Ramona was a wonderful addition to our activities program as a volunteer and when a part time opening came up, Ramona was a perfect fit for the position of Weekend Vibrant Life Assistant. It doesn’t take long for anyone to see the huge heart and artistic flair Ramona brings to everything she does. During her months as a volunteer, we were able to get to know her which certainly made the interview process for the position an easy one!
During the past 3 years, Ramona has had the opportunity to serve the residents in Generations as well as AL as she has many times provided coverage for another staff member. Growing up, Ramona’s family owned a popular Mexican restaurant called the Cactus Patch and she has brought her knowledge of dining services with her and has been able to serve many times in our Culinary Services Dept as a server. Her flexibility and spirit of teamwork are highly valued.
In April, as we were faced with the task of recruiting a new Vibrant Life Director, Ramona was willing to take on a temporary assignment and worked full-time creating the monthly calendar, facilitating the activities and making the necessary purchases for the communities Vibrant Life program. She continued in this role for 3 months as we transitioned in our current Vibrant Life Director, Henry Hermosillo.
Ramona is a true blessing to residents and co-workers alike. She is ready willing and oh so able to be called upon to fill in shifts over and above her weekend schedule and has become our go to gal when it comes to event preparation. Her eye for decorating and design have made us all look good!
